Sunday Morning 7 AM where to go.... Snow level still around 4000 Ft ( 1200 m)... Decision taken at 9 AM, heading to Ranger Station on Mountain Loop Highway ( same place as Lake 22 see July 4th).
Ranger recommendation go to Glacier Basin via Monte Cristo Ghost Town. Monte Cristo mining town will be closed for rehabilitation for a few months... so today is the day and the trail is in good condition ( Dix-it park ranger)

Distance 14 miles 22.5 Km.... Euh maybe too much...but the first 4 miles are flat Ah then should be OK
Elevation Gain : 2000 Ft ( 600 m) yes but in only 1.5 mile... 2 km This is very very steep... tres tres raide
Top elevation 4400 Ft ( 1320 m)
Duration 7 very long hours
Temperature : 72 F - 21 C
Wildlife : Nothing special
Flowers : A lot see pictures

Long update for a long long hike, never trust a very well train ranger... This is very steep and tough but worth every drop of sweat.

Next update after the Hike to Camp Muir on the 13th... not alone with REI... 10 000 feet ( 3000 m) at Mt Rainier. Should be fun. A bientot.
